The National Registry of Workers' Compensation Specialists was started in 2003. The organizers felt that although there were several industry related professional designations, some of which taught about workers' compensation, very few if any, focused entirely on the subject and none of them were geared towards a general audience as opposed to specifically insurance producers.
Over the years we have found that many of our graduates are in fields other than insurance, including human resources, corporate risk management, medical and legal fields. We are proud of the fact that many organizations, both large and small will choose to use the Registered Workers' Compensation Specialist (RWCS) certification as their workers compensation training program of choice for their company.
In accordance with our corporate mission and values, The National Registry of Workers' Compensation Specialists has appointed Porter T. Talbot, MSFS as Executive Director and President of Elevate Insurance, an independent insurance agency located in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is an adjunct instructor for BYU-Idaho online learning, and author of Unlocking Obamacare: A Business Guide to Lowering Costs, Increasing Options and Staying Within the Law.
Porter has more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York and Master of Science in Financial Services from the American College. In addition, he has earned multiple professional designations, including Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Health Insurance Associate (HIA), and Registered Workers’ Compensation Specialist (RWCS).
“I am appreciative to be part of The National Registry of Workers’ Compensation Specialists, in providing a quality workers’ compensation training program.
Many years ago, when I first entered the insurance industry, I decided that if this was to be my chosen profession I would want to be the best that I was capable of becoming. That being said, I have made continuing education a lifetime pursuit, earning multiple professional designations on the road to competency, including Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Health Insurance Associate (HIA) and of course, Registered Workers’ Compensation Specialist (RWCS).
To me, obtaining the RWCS workers’ compensation certification sets someone apart as a committed individual within the field of workers’ compensation.”
